Design Story
At present, environment problems such as overcut, over dig, immoderate picking become one of the most issues that all human beings concern greatly. One example is edible Swallow Nest (cubilose). In Hainan province of China, there are only 15 Swiftlet left because of human picking their nests for commerce. Now in that area, it is forbidden to pick swiftlet nests. Based on the above consideration, we wish to design a kind of vegan swallow nest, which has similar appearance and nutrition with the real one. During this vegan swallow nests, less water will be consumed, and less carbon will be released. Also we intend to use packaging to remind people that environment protection is as important as satisfy our divers desire. Also this edible Swallow Nest come from plants, instead of hurting birds’ home. It can not only satisfy these people’s need for health and weight-loss, but also have common awareness in environment protection. In this way, products’ features are blending well with their packaging, which is our ideal pursuit.
Highlights
The packaging focusing on a story for a swallow’s going home journey to highlight the difference between Vegan swallow nests and traditional ones: birds creating nests for living; but human breaking their home for making an expensive commodity. The packaging set is made up of rigid gift flip-top box. The main graphic image of the box is a lost swallow with a map or GPS, looking for its home. When opening the lid, there is a gimmick on its inside surface. With a reference of the game- flappy bird, the swallow is lonely flying through buildings in city and searching for its nest. When pressing the button go, the gimmick works and the swallow just fall into its home.
