Daniel J. O’Sullivan is a Professor at the University of Minnesota.His teaching responsibilities include ‘Introductory Microbiology’and ‘Food Fermentations and Biotechnology’. He has research laboratories in the Department of Food Science and Nutrition and in the Microbial and Plant Genomics Institute. He received his Ph.D in Microbiology from the National University of Ireland in 1990. He did postdoctoral research work at the National Food Biotechnology Center (Ireland) and at North Carolina State University before joining the faculty at the Department of Food Science and Nutrition in the University of Minnesota in 1994. His research focuses on molecular aspects of probiotic lactic acid bacteria and bifidobacteria and he has authored over 100 peer reviewed papers, book chapters and published abstracts as well as 1 book and 5 patents.
