Design Story
Nowadays, good look has become one important impetus of purchasing decision for consumers. As a result, many new brands try to use unexpected packaging to touch potential consumers into the market. Also many traditional brands or traditional product wish to re-fresh their old-fashioned packaging to regenerate their previous popularity and glory, as well as attract younger consumers. As a professional in packaging, especially outer paper-based packaging company, we also keep in developing more creative possibilities in box. This time, we select to make a special packaging for Chinese traditional snack which are mainly eaten in April, early spring. For the graphic design, we use Chinese traditional style, blending Chinese aesthetics with modern packaging art.
Highlights
The packaging set has a bag and 4 cardboard paper boxes. The main color is light green. The bag has an appearance with gradient light green, which echoes to the season (at the beginning of spring when it is normally wet and foggy) the packaging green and sweet rice balls are eaten. On each paper box, there is a sketched girl image with different Chinese traditional clothes, who is playing in a different scenario. They also represent four flavors of the rice balls. Also the four girls can be ripped along with the pre-cut lines. Then the four paper card can be used as bookmarking. Also they can be pasted onto the other side of the paper bag. Then a complete playing paintings is composed. It is a good way to make consumers interacting with the packaging.

The bag and boxes use peal light specialized paper as raw materials. Under normal daily light, there is a refraction visual effect, which is united with rice balls. Different flavors in Chinese words use embossing and glossy varnishing, which offers a sense of contrast with the rest matte feeling. The brand on the bag and the clothes applies hot stamping with transparent laser foil to enhance the metallic shininess.

On each paper box, there is a sketched cartoon girl image with different Chinese traditional clothes from different dynasties, who are playing in a different scenario. Does the work consider sustainability (environmentally or commercially, or both)? If so, please explain.
The whole set of packaging is made of cardboard paper, instead of grey board inside. The using amount of glue is much less. Also the inserts are made of paper as well, instead of normal plastic ones. The base paper is a kind of lightweight paper board, consuming less wood pulps and energy than normal white cardboard. It is good for forest protection and less Co2 emission.
