Liu Wei has over 15 years of professional experience in whisky having joined Diageo in 2004. As one of the first brand ambassadors for the alcoholic beverage industry in Mainland China, he has set an industry benchmark with his rich and nuanced understanding of whisky and its surrounding culture. Liu Wei once studied under world-renowned whisky blender, Sir Jim Beveridge, Johnnie Walker’s Master Blender. Liu Wei is also a holder of the whisky industry’s most prestigious honor, The Keeper of the Quaich. As a veteran of the food and beverage industry, he is familiar with eight major Chinese cuisines and possesses a wealth of knowledge and unique personal insight concerning whisky food pairing.
With extensive hosting experience, Liu Wei is renowned, both among his dinner guests and throughout the industry, for his confident and calm gentlemanly manner. He has hosted and promoted more than 1,500 Johnnie Walker brand events and dinner parties in China. He has also served as a mentor at the Diageo Whiskey Experience Center, accompanying countless industry leaders in whisky tasting and popularizing whisky culture. Liu Wei has made an immeasurable contribution to enriching Chinese consumer understanding of whisky, its surrounding history, and culture, as well as the spirit of the Johnnie Walker brand.
