Annemieke Beers has a broad expertise and experience in food , both in the academic as in the industrial settings. Her main areas of expertise are in R&D, QA and operations management.
At the moment she is director of Operations, at the Food , Nutrition & Biobased Sciences Group of Wageningen University and Research Centre. This group consists of ca. 950 employees, university professors, scientificic staff, and contractresearch units. The department performs groundbreaking research in 4 main area’s:

active in Bioproces Engineering, Biorefinery, Environmental Technology, Biobased Chemistry & Technology
Molecular Sciences,
active in the field of Soft Matter, Bionanotechnology, Biophysics , Microbiology and Systems- and Synthetic Biology.
In the past she has been a director also of the contractresearch institute Food & Biobased Research. This institute is active in contract research, mainly for industry. Implementing the state of the art academic knowledge from Wageningen University into dedicated solutions for food industry.
The research in this institute is concentrated on two main focus area’s:
Sustainable Food Chains (agrologistics, food processing, innovative and sustainable packaging), Healthy Food & Dietary Patterns (consumer science of eating behaviour, food safety, food design & processing, healthy ingredients).
Before that she acted as an independant consultant for 7 years, for various clients in the food industry. Mostly in production, R&D and QA consultancy.
Her industrial experience was gained during a period of 14 years at Campina (currently FrieslandCampina), where she was active subsequently as Research and Development manager of fresh milk products, plantmanager, and Research and Development and Quality Assurance director of the Dutch division of Campina.
