Innocent is a company which over the years has established a reputation for producing intelligent, highly effective campaigns on social media. Joe has been at the helm for the entire journey - initially as the brand’s first Communities Manager, and now in his current role as Head of Digital and Communities.
His leadership has helped cement innocent’s reputation as a brand that truly understands how to connect with consumers online, with its social content frequently held up as best in class within the marketing world. Innocent is the only brand in the UK to have placed in the top 10 of the Social Brands 100 for four years in a row (winners in 2012), and its recent Big Knit Facebook campaign delivered the strongest Nielsen brand effects study results Facebook has ever seen in EMEA.
According to The Drum (and his mum), Joe is the 26th most influential person in social media marketing in the UK. He’s a regular keynote speaker and marketing awards judge, and has contributed to numerous online and offline publications. As the lines between brand, digital and PR have become increasingly blurred, and innocent has expanded into 17 different countries in Europe, so Joe’s role has grown beyond a UK social media focus, to encompass a much broader set of international marketing responsibilities.
Innocent is now the number one smoothie brand in Europe, but Joe remains utterly committed to keeping the brand small as it grows, ensuring it maintains an open and honest line of communication with its consumers at every touch point.
He’s a big believer in the power of handwritten letters and one on communication, he’s only interested in creating the kind of marketing you want to share with your friends, and his proudest achievement over the last year has been building up an exceptionally talented team of writers, planners and all round creatives at innocent’s headquarters in London. It is a team that inspires and delights him with the quality of their work every day.
He is sometimes late for meetings.
